Our biodiesel filtration units work with Magnesol to produce ASTM/EN14214 standard fuel.

BUT nothing works like magic.

Put garbage oil in - and you are almost certain to get poor biodiesel out.

Biodiesel from used cooking oil

It is a wonderful thing to be able to make high quality fuel from used cooking oil.  BUT it is essential that to make high quality fuel a few simple rules are followed.  Basically when you receive your waste oil it is often "murky" - this is not unusual.  Remember it has just come off the back of a truck.  The key thing to remember is you MUST let your used cooking oil settle for a MINIMUM of 48 hours.  This allows solids to settle to the bottom of your tanks.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE BIODIESEL FROM SOLIDS.  You will produce lousy biodiesel.  Garbage in - garbage out.  It applies to biodiesel as well as computers.

This is waste oil one of our clients purchased.  Before we settled it, it just looked like a murky liquid.

BUT 48 hours later, look at the difference.  The white stuff at the bottom will NOT make biodiesel.

Our customer paid 27p per litre for this oil.  Only 70% was useable.  This made the true cost around 35p per litre.

The remarkable thing is that our client processed this oil BEFORE he contacted us for help in the quality of the biodiesel he was producing.  It was a time consuming process, but with Magnesol and our filtration units the batch of biodiesel was saved.  A nice result, but it would have been much better for the client to have settled his waste oil for 48 hours.

This is the finished article - before polishing.  There is now no trace of FFA's in the product following the Magnesol wash and filtering.

Once the biodiesel was Magnesol washed and filtered, all that was left was to "polish" it with our 4 pot filters.  The results?  Incredible clarity biodiesel as these 2 samples show.

This shows the immense power of our Magnesol washers and filtration systems when used by an expert.  The results though would have been EVEN BETTER and much easier if the input oil had been settled properly and filtered to 20 microns.

However you choose to make biodiesel, always settle the solids out of your source waste cooking oil, filter it to 20 microns and THEN use the incredible power of Magnesol to wash the biodiesel - without a single litre of water being used.
